| I bougth a new set of headphones, stuck in the disc, followed the prompts, inserted the headphones .....hey presto, i look cool while playing my games, and i can chat while doing it. Problem 1) the headphones cuts the sound off to my speakers, so i had to pull the headphones back out to get proper sound ( a pain in the junk if i have to keep doing this). Problem 2) After putting the USB back in, the computer doesn't recognise the headphones. I haven't done it yet, but i really don't want to be reinstalling the software everytime i want to use the headphones. I'm sure i'm just making some noobtastic error, but i'm stumped. Can anyone help me please ? | Colonel Calamity | I have found this is typical of a USB based setup. When the USB sound is enabled, it changes all the settings in the windows sound settings so that it is routed to the headphones. As for problem 2, are you going to the taskbar and removing the USB device before unplugging it or are you just unplugging ti without doing anything else. I know with my Skype phone, I have to remove it first and many times it is not recognized after that... but as soon as I restart the system it is found again normally. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | Ok, this is turning into a pain in the happy sack. I've reinstalled the software, and got to the screen where i'm prompted to plug in my headphones, and i keep getting the message...... USB device not recognised One of the USB devices connected to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognise it. The prompt is asking me to plug the bugger in ![]() This is the second time i've reinstalled this device, and the worst thing is....it worked first time, just my Monitor went mute. | Colonel Calamity | I meant sound drivers in general, even if there is onboard sound ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

| Level 2 College Student | Are you using the Headphones for VOIP in games and the speakers for the audio? I did with USB headphones to get the sound back through my speakers is right click the sound thing [the speaker thing in ur taskbar]>Adjust Audio Properties and navigate to the Audio tab and make the "Sound Playback" default device to "SB Audigy 2Z" (where my speakers are plugged in) Then go to Sound Recording and put it as USB Headset Also, since I mostly used Teamspeak/vent, I just went to those options and had those default to USB Headset, and left everything else normal. That way I heard the game stuff through my speakers, and the voice through the headset. I dunno if that's what you're trying to do, but thats how I set mine up. As for the whole "Not recognized" thing, I'm sorry, I can't help you there. |

| I've tried using USB headphones before, they were awesome in quality and comfort but I hated how it gimped my system. They also cause a slight FPS drop in games. |
