Default Mobo Wiring

I'm trying to clean up the wiring on my desktop and would like to reinstall the connections for the front audio panel. (They've never worked, so I assume they were never properly connected.)

The motherboard manual assigns the following:

1. MIC2 L
2. AGND
3. MIC2 R
4. AVCC
5. FRO-R
6. MIC2_JD
7. F_IO-SEND
8. NC
9. FRO-L
10. LINE2_JD

The lines from my front panel are marked:

1. MIC IN
2. MIC POWER
3. EAR R
4. EAR R
5. EAR L
6. EAR L
7. GND

I know that GND is ground (duh...) but haven't got a clue on how they correspond. Help!!!!

Found the solution - absolutely senseless! Wish they would standardize these things.

If you have a chance, share the solution in case someone else does a forum search with the same issue.

Sure. I meant to do so earlier, but I couldn't get to my laptop to copy the info.

MIC-IN from case goes to MIC2 L (pin 1)
GND from case goes to AGND (pin 2)
MIC Power from case goes to MIC2 R (pin 3)
(nothing on pin 4)
EAR R from case goes to FRO-R (pin 5)
EAR R from case goes to MIC2_JD (pin 6)
(nothing on pin 7)
(nothing on pin 8)
EAR L from case goes to FRO-L (pin 9)
EAR L from case goes to LINE2_JD (pin 10)

Wasn't that easy? LOL!!!

Aren't front panel connections fun?!
I've never even bothered to try and get those front panel audio connections hooked up, just looked like too much of a hassle. Now I know what I've been missing!
Glad you got it all sorted out though

The bad thing about hooking up the front audio connectors, is it usually render's the the back ones useless!

Jeesh Stinger, you almost gave me a heart attack. I had to run upstairs to check whether or not the speakers are working. They do. (As soon as I catch my breath I'll need to smoke a cigarette.)

I had a case that had front audio jacks, and the connectors inside the case were actual jacks! No way to hook them up to the motherboard inernally, I was like WTF what's the point?

also if you disable onboard sound (like I have an X-Fi) then the front panel jacks won't work anymore.

The Sonata 2 was easy, had them all in a brick type with the extra wires coming out from that

Thanks HL and Corsair!

A couple of things. MaxPC and a few other people have drawn up the schematics for the front panel connector layout and how to wire your sound card. Also, ASUS has those awesome new connectors that make setting up your front panel connectors, USB, and IEEE 1394 wires very simple.....I wish every motherboard maker would do that, or maybe standardize the wiring layout
