Default Logitech communicate STX

After removing all software programs that pertain to my camera, and consulting with FAQ on the Logitech website, and even trying all said with my son's cam that is the same...it still wont work.I even did a clean boot installation as suggested on the Logitech website.I dload all the newest Vista 64 drivers for it.I plugged it in the rear USB and the front USB.I let windows detect and dload.I disabled all anti virus etc.Still no worky. It worked the first time I installed it from disc and ran the updates.a few days later I tried to use it and no worky. This is what I see.A crazy mix of fluttering color and pixel spaz.

looks like one of those slide puzzles I used to see as a kid... maybe that specific camera just is not supported by your installation of vista...

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Why don't you do this:

Turn the web cam on, and put a blank (white) sheet of paper in front of it, and hold it there for half a minute. Then take the paper away and slowly mover your face into the picture (webcam).
That might make it work, I've experienced what your experiencing right now in that picture.

still have the same problem, have you tried it with a 32-bit environment, probably that really have issues with 64bit environment, every called Logitech on the phone for assistance?

i have a creative notebook cam, when i transferred it to my desktop it did the same all i do to get it to work right was to always unplugged it when not on use then only plug it when i need it, but it requires me to unplug and replug twice before it work, and ofcourse this cam is 2y.o. now,[talk about cheap person].

good luck with your problem.

I just installed mine in Vista Ultimate x64, and it works perfectly. I'm at a loss at to what the problem could be aside from the camera itself being defective.

OMG....I emailed support about this issue and told them what all I have done. They write back telling me to install the latest drivers..and give me the link..."this will correct your issue"
BS! I already told them in the email that I had done that.I know you catch more bees with honey but, im all out of honey! I emailed them back with a reminder to read my first post and to try again. 3 days of trying to get a camera to work that DID work is making me thirsty...walking over the bar. Deal with it later.

It did work after first install.....I went and got my sons cam that is the same, and his is no different. Lets see what "support" has to say after my less than friendly second attempt...would be nice if they read all 4 lines of my first nice message.

oldman,
call logitech, be nice and they will probably help you out! They have great customer service. I would bet they will send you out a new one. They really dont know you have spent 3 days on this.

I would rather read a NewEgg review than a [H] review

usually they have automated systems read over the wording, catch key words and phrases and reply with a generalized response.. only after the 3rd or 4th response does it get sent to a person.
