Default LCD TV - help !!

Hey all,
First up, I purchased a 42 inch LG LCD TV 2 days ago as a gift for my mothers 50th only for it to work a few hours on the day and freak out on her and stop working.

After a few hours of viewing (about 2) the screen froze, I turned it off only to find that it only had one channel tuned, I figured it may have lost its saved settings due to being turned off whilst frozen, this is where it begins...

The TV refuses to re-tune any channels save the one it will occasionally default too, Using the auto-tune function causes it to turn itself off before even beginning to search with a abrupt clicking sound as the power dies (this has me thinking there may be a short somewhere within the HD tuner).

It works fine aside from the above, It plays the 360 fine, Ps2 fine and will even get channels with use of Digital set top box we had for our older TV (but it does not pick up HD channels correctly so this is an issue with such a large TV).

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated,
Thanks!

(Edit, Also, trying to set it to factory defaults does nothing, save removing the last channel that was working :()

First of all,welcome to HL
Now on to your TV. You may find some help here for sure, and I don't want to make this sound like I am chasing you away,BUT...here is an excellent TV repair sight that is comprised of tv repair guys etc...that may be a better route for you to go. TV Repair please don't take me wrong, but the guys repair tv's for a living and would maybe be a better path to go,IMHO.You are welcomed here anytime though, and maybe even someone here will be able to help, one never knows.

Thanks heaps for the reply, and thanks for the site.

I gave the store a call and they are sending a tech out in the next two days to have a look at it and if he/she can't do anything about it they are going to replace it.

I did a little investigating and as far as I can tell the TV antenna is to blame, It is an amplified antenna (draws extra power from a power socket and amplifies the picture or w/e) I had someone come and look at the TV (A friend who is a bit of a buff in respect to most things electronic) and he put the blame on it.

After he left I decided to pull out a amp meter to see if there was excessive voltage running through the cable from the antenna to the TV, lo and behold there were WAY too high currents running from the cord to the TV when the amplification feature was turned on, buh bye Digital tuner inside the TV.....
