| Here's my previous post umpnpmgr.dll I tried many things but nothing is working. So my next attempt would be to take the drive out and hook it up to a USB port or to an IDE inside my desktop. The thing is I don't know if there's such a thing to go laptop HD to USB or IDE. What kind of connector is a laptop drive? O know it's sata but it's a different pin size. What's more frustrating now is that everything is intact on my laptop, except for the fact that it takes 30 minutes for windows to boot up ,and I cannot paste anything or save as. And that all usb ports seem to hit and missed, sometimes I can get my thumbdrive to work and sometimes no. | Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! But it sounds to me like you need a clean windows install. Good luck. | Oh I know I do, but there's 2 files that I have to retrieve, well if I managed to recover the whole drive that would be even better, but for the past 3 dys I've been trying to recover those files. | That link was for IDE to USB adapters, btw, guess it shows the page title instead of the actual link. | Yeah but I think that's right, what did you put in the search field?? I am trying to find something similar at my local comp store canadacomputers.com So I guess a laptop drive connector goes by the name of 2.5 sata?? That's the only way I can find something close. | Frenchie ... you need to boot from a CD Boot Disk that you make from a download on your Desktop. Use utorrent and download one of the following Boot Disks. µTorrent - The Lightweight and Efficient BitTorrent Client Tech 182 Either version Oct or May [Not the diagnostic disk] Digiwiz Search on Pirate Bay or ISOHUNT ... under the above or ultimate winpe, winpe or ubcd or "Boot CD" There are several choices ... I have every one and have tested them all and Digiwiz [Ultimate winpe] is the best. It is an invaluable repair tool. Many are an actual Windows OS Pre-Install disk that has programs to repair most problems a PC can have. You can at least recover your files to a flash drive or other media. You may also be able to run a repair on the drive. These are very very serious power tool boot disks with numbers of powerful programs and hacks ... so fix your PC ... then take the 6 months to learn what all they can do. | UBCD is kinda lame compared to the Windows XP OS driven WinPE environment bootdisks. I haven't used UBCD for several years now since it is Dos ... or some of them Linux. |
