Default iPod Touch x64 Vista Bugs

Ok so i've been trying all over the place to see how the hell i can get this ipod touch i got for xmas to work in vista x64. iTunes defaults quicktime to program files, while since the itunes is x86 it goes into the program files (x86). Now itunes itself works fine, just can't detect the quicktime plugin i guess. Anyway, the thing worked fine for my nano, but the touch it actually pops up the window and says "cant run on this version of itunes, please d/l x64 bit version". Problem is apple doesn't MAKE an itunes x64. So now i got this 300 dollar paper weight on my desk -_-

(thanks blake!)

I got my daughter one for Christmas, she really likes it, but she also has a mac book so she doesn't have any issues. Of course I wouldn't know if she did, she would rather die a horrible death then to let me touch her ipod or her laptop.

after tons of googling and what not, it just seems the itunes software is trying to communicate with quicktime, but with x64 vista it creates the program file (x86) that installs itunes and quicktime into. The hardcoding for itunes seems to keep looking into the program files folder, so even trying to install directly to another location doesn't seem to work at all. Don't see any issues with Leopard x64, so got to just assume (not apple bashing) that Apple decided to screw the Microsoft OS x64 users by refusing to fix the itunes issue for windows (been around since iphone launched).
