Default if its not one thing....

its another....

problem #1:
today after some serious assembly and disassembly (again and again) of my new computer over and over, from a mention of polobunny in chat, ends up my cpu has a concave/bowl shape to it which is why even with this giant Scythe ninja, it is still getting 52-56șC using F@H and even higher with stress tests. Even with the fan on the heatsink, it still sits at 52-53șC or higher under load.
I tried the stock Intel hsf and even properly setup, it still ran at 58-62șC because after I pulled it off again, the arctic silver is "pooling" in the middle due to the bowl shape. I sent in an RMA request to Newegg with all this information so hopefully hear back from them tomorrow.

then problem #2
This brand new linksys router decided to take a minor **** on me... my internet connection on any of the given attached computers downloads around 20-60kbps where as before it was running 400-900kbps. Also I am completely unable to even get to the router (192.168.1.1) from any of the attached computers. the page either times out, or it lets me get to the password entry THEN times out.... at first I thought it was my new PC was giving me issues but after some digging it is the router.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

1. The concave IHS is not a new issue.....which is why a lot of people lap the top of their processor with 2000 grit wet/dry sand paper.....it does make a huge difference, but will void your warranty

2. Have you tried resetting your router? I know my Linksys has a button on the back that resets everything to the factory defaults....I've had the same issue and found that doing that, then upgrading the firmware, made a difference. Also make sure that you disconnect and power down your modem, router, and PC......plug in the modem and wait for it to cycle up, then plug it into your router and wait a minute, then connect your computer

1. I am in contact with newegg so I will not worry about it

2. I have reset it, unplugged it, done whatever was needed and still doesn't work
waiting to hear back from linksys support before RMA'ing that

ok problem #3
when the PC comes up to the sign in screen for XP, it flashes... shows the login screen for 1/2 a second then goes black for 3 seconds, shows the login then goes black... I am getting ready to install some new drivers to see if that helps at all.

I was using Catalyst 7.2 drivers so I uninstalled them and installed the 7.1 drivers. So far have only restarted the PC once and it did not do it that time... we will see later

I had a similar thing with my 1900xt ..........would black screen once for a moment and then boot. (think that was 6.5 or 6.10 cats).

Hope your issue is resolved.

ok got an RMA through newegg for the E6400, just returning the CPU (with a damn $33 restocking fee even though its defective)... just ordered a replacement E6600 since others across the internet are having this same issue with the E6400's

edit: ok got an RMA for the Linksys router as well... will be sending that the middle of this next week and sending the CPU in probably Mon or Tue.
Ordered an SMC router because my last SMC stuck with me through all kinds of s**t, at least 5 years worth.

My suggestion, do NOT buy the Linksys BEFSR41 wired router.

ok got the new router, that one works much better....

but now another problem... it seems this new computer has problems with windows networking.... same thing happens regardless of which router, network cable, even put in a PCI NIC and same problem...
takes several windows restarts and ipconfig release renew before it grabs an IP address... and when it does the speed is horrible... speed tests show 15-30kbps....
right now somehow I got a fast connection so I will make sure to not restart or have any network hiccups because last speed test showed 6400+ kbps download.

this was also causing problems with my Folding verifying its download...

Will be doing some major digging to see how I can remove and reinstall windows networking.
