Default IE on a MAC

I know I'm streching by asking here, but are any of you familiar with the MAC version of IE?

I have a client that uses MAC's, and they cannot access the online tools that we offer via Safari or their version of IE.

Now, I asked the CS department of our product why, and they simply said that they do not support the MAC versions of IE and Apple is dropping their support of it too....

What's the difference between the Apple and PC versions of IE?!?!?!?!!?

I would expect them to be at least close enough to equal in use that the basic end user wouldn't notice.......

I didn't even know that M$ made IE for the Mac, so I don't have the answer to your question. But you could recommend Firefox to them.

Well, according to what I found, IE5 was the last version to be released for the Mac, and that version supported neither XML nor DOM. XML is probably the problem your clients are facing. Once again, I recommend Firefox.

Thanks. That was very helpful considering that I covered that in the post (minus the FF part which is not an option).

Go help a tree grow.

I need real help with this one.

Where did you cover the XML and DOM? I don't see it, and I don't see that you have anything to complain about. You asked what the difference is and I answered you. Now go eat a banana.

I don't know what the specific differences are between the two, it is all in the way they are designed and coded. Kindof like asking what the differences are between an Athlon 64 and a Pentum 4...

As per your problem, have you tried any other browsers like Opera? (not even sure if they make a mac version of that though).

Do0d. Those are different pieces of hardware made by different companies that are not compatible. This is INTERNET EXPLORER made by Microsoft.

I don't think you can put Opera or Firefox on a Mac. Besides, the app that we offer only functions 100% correctly with Internet Explorer.

I don't think Opera will run on a Mac, but Firefox will run on any OS.

Of course, that rules out FF anyways...

The latest version for windows is IE6 wich has many features that IE5 lacks..

Hmmm I don't know why they would be having so many problems. I have both a MAC, and a PC, and I can open the same things on both. Actually anything that require quicktime works better on my MAC than on my PC.
