| I think I need a registry guru to help me. Ok...install an application and it seemed to work fine. Uninstalled it and then a little while later did a clean install of it, but I'm having problems. I keep getting an error when I try to copy and paste a file. It says... Cannot copy "such and such" file:Access denied. Make sure the disk is not full or right protected and the file is not in currently use. " It worked the first time...but since I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it I keep getting this error. I even erased my harddrive and did a clean install of Windows XP and I still get the error. I've looked in the Process's and nothing looks familiar, but then again....I'm an idiot. I definitely do not see anything close to the name of the program that would be running. I'm a thinking...I might have to do something to the registry, but I'm not sure. Any ideas? | We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | First off, whats the program, and the OS? Sometimes its as easy as a reboot, if its in Vista you might have to change permissions, etc...it all depends. | Boris Red and Windows XP. Like I said, I erased my harddrive with "wipedrive" and reinstalled windows and it didn't help. I used this program to help me called "freefile" and it says "you do not have sufficent access to 1 processes" none of the unlock file programs I've tried, worked. Wholockedme and unlocker are the ones i've tried. | We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | Maybe it wrote something to the boot sector of the drive? I'd use the Windows CD and the "Repair" option, use the "fixboot" or fixmbr" command to have Windows rewrite the boot sector to the drive. | We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | Yes, just like you are doing a fresh install.....it will get to the point where it will ask you whether you want to install or repair, choose "R" for repair, then choose the drive, C:/fixmber or C:/fixboot it will ask you if you are sure you want to do this, read the instructions, and then if you feel comfortable, follow through. As a side note, I've never had a problem with a drive using this utility. | PB, It says "no locking handle found". I don't think it's locked....I just don't have permission to do what I want to do with it. OK fellas....I'll try doing the repair and I'll report back if It worked or not. | T-Rex | If coulomb Unlocker says it's not locked, it's not. It's probably something about permission as said. |
