I don't know why, but since yesterday, COD2 lags horribly. It goes from around 45FPS all the way down to sub-15. I hate it. It averages around 30-35FPS, which I can deal with. But this is unbearable. I looked at Task Manager while the game was running. There were a couple of processes stealing my CPU usage. Arg! The biggest hog is System Idle Process. I have no CLUE what's going on. I'm not running anything intensive. I have AIM, iTunes, and BitComet running. I'm running BitComet so I can get that FEAR Extraction demo (damn slow net connection) and so I download when I play SP games. There's other random stuff running the background too. but nothing that should kill the computer. :( Help? Here's a screenshot of Task Manager. ![]() ![]() ^ This one was while I was playing. - Core 2 Quad Q6600 - DFI Infinity 975X - 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800 - 250GB Seagate 7200.10RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM - ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB - Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W - Acer 19" P191W Monitor - Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution - Vista Ultimate x64

System Idle Process does not actually use CPU resources, it shows the amount of free resources. Those two resource hogging processes apear to be malware http://www.pchelpforum.com/fixed-hij...upsvc-exe.html http://fileinfo.prevx.com/adware/qq4...SVCUP.EXE.html Opteron 64 165--1.5GB DDR--ECS KA1 MVP(thanks HL!)--x1800GTO 256MB--Seagate 320GB SATA--Antec 550 Watt--Antec P180

Are you using hijack this? Find out exactly what they are before deleting them. As much as they are a nuisance, using your resources, you don't want to be removing any files that are vital to your system. ![]() I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220

Yeah, I was planning to. According to that site, they're all spyware. I think. - Core 2 Quad Q6600 - DFI Infinity 975X - 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800 - 250GB Seagate 7200.10RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM - ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB - Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W - Acer 19" P191W Monitor - Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution - Vista Ultimate x64

Then it should be alright. You might want to run a spyware scanner like Spybot S&D or Ad-Aware first before running Hijackthis. ![]() I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220

| T-Rex | Nothing of those are vital. www.ewido.net Ewido Security Suite free 30 day trial will get rid of it, and maybe others that could be lurking. :P |

You can get your Hijackthis Log analyzed here automatically. http://hjt.networktechs.com/ It takes the confusion out of the whole ordeal. Don't go overboard. ![]() I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220
