Default I get major lag in COD2.

I don't know why, but since yesterday, COD2 lags horribly. It goes from around 45FPS all the way down to sub-15. I hate it. It averages around 30-35FPS, which I can deal with. But this is unbearable. I looked at Task Manager while the game was running. There were a couple of processes stealing my CPU usage. Arg!

The biggest hog is System Idle Process. I have no CLUE what's going on. I'm not running anything intensive. I have AIM, iTunes, and BitComet running. I'm running BitComet so I can get that FEAR Extraction demo (damn slow net connection) and so I download when I play SP games. There's other random stuff running the background too. but nothing that should kill the computer.

:(

Help? Here's a screenshot of Task Manager.

System Idle Process does not actually use CPU resources, it shows the amount of free resources.

Those two resource hogging processes apear to be malware

Do I delete all three (mswinup.exe, winsvcup.exe, winupsvc.exe)?

Are you using hijack this? Find out exactly what they are before deleting them. As much as they are a nuisance, using your resources, you don't want to be removing any files that are vital to your system.

Yeah, I was planning to. According to that site, they're all spyware. I think.

Then it should be alright. You might want to run a spyware scanner like Spybot S&D or Ad-Aware first before running Hijackthis.

Nothing of those are vital.

Ewido Security Suite free 30 day trial will get rid of it, and maybe others that could be lurking. :P

You can get your Hijackthis Log analyzed here automatically.

http://hjt.networktechs.com/

It takes the confusion out of the whole ordeal. Don't go overboard.
