Default HP laptop = teh gay

So... My bro bought a new mobo for that dead HP laptop and I installed it. Ran fine last night. He goes home and it doesn't start up. So he like takes it apart and stuff and it works fine. This morning, same. He messes with the battery and stuff and boots. Now it's just been on... he's planning to never turn it off again.

But why's it doing that. I turn it off/on several times without a problem. The only thing I can deduce is that northbridge is at an angle on the new mobo and not at horizontally like the old one, which made me wonder if the HS would be fine. Fit fine and the die was small just like the other one and it was completely covered so it didn't bother me. But it shouldn't be this. It's not overheating... Just not turning on.

BTW, by new, I mean dead new. This guy bought this laptop and pulled out the mobo straight up.

Maybe the power button isn't working correctly or isn't connected properly? I had a friend who's Dell was doing the exact same thing and it turned out to be the power button on the case...

Good idea I guess... I'll check into that. I also posted this at MPC and a dude said clean the contacts, which also sounded like a very good idea.
