Help with vista & wireless please!

Hey guys,
on my desktop i have a both XP Pro and Vista Ultimate, but i cannot get online with ultimate.
it recognizes the wireless network, but it won't connect because it "did not receive any response from the wireless router or access point"

This rig works PERFECTLY FINE in XP Pro wirelessly.
any help/insight would be nice

Could be a number of things.

First, confirm you are NOT using 64 bit (it matters). Second, a good test is to plug the system directly into the router and see if it works (non-wirelessly). Our Vista 64 station sees our wireless card.....but can't use it (no good drivers).

Drivers would usually be the main problem in your case, but also do that "test" Manta mentioned by connecting the wire directly to the PC when Vista is running.

Make sure you're running the right Vista drivers for your network card in your PC. Then again...make sure correct drivers EXIST for the card...

First I would try as Manta suggest. Try to connect wired and see how it goes.

Next, you don't mention the router employed or more so the security scheme you are using. If you are using WEP like 128 Bit WEP, try disabling the WEP and connecting. Now if that works go ahead and enable WEP again, see if Vista picks up on the change and prompts for a pass key.

well, i'm running 32-bit.
also i found it really a pain to get drivers to install.
there are drivers for it, and there are for my video card too, (7900gt) but NEITHER WANT TO INSTALL!
far cry still runs, but not well.
also games like CoD2 refuse to run.

i'll get an ethernet cable to my rig asap.
