| I have had several problems with the Giga-Byte GA-7N400-Pro2 motherboard. The latest was when i plugged in a USB cable for my DCS6000 Digital Camera. It locked up solid and I had to do a hard shutdown.I then hit the power button thinking all will be fine. NOT ![]() Stupid mobo will not post anything, not even the Bios setup. I did not notice any static spark and there could not have been one since i was holding the case handle(which is metal too),when i plugged in the cable for the camera. Stinger and I tried everything we could think of. Stripped it down to bare minimums:1 stick memory,Vidcard, keyboard.= Nothing,notta.![]() ![]() Tried diff mem modules and slots,=Nothing. Tried to reset cmos,Nothing again. ![]() ![]() ![]() Does anyone have some ideas? Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe. Amd X2 4200 2GB Corsair XMS Extreme. BFG 8800GTS 320 OC2 ThermalTake "Big Typhoon". | I'm Diggin it! | Just asking...not accusing, have you made absolutely sure your USB headers are connected properly? If not, you've probably fried the mobo. The specs I did however disassemble to clean and add new hs/fan to cpu. I dont know if the connection was off 180*. I will see if it can even be plugged backwards, dont know. If so what can be done to fix the mobo? I could not have turned the pins backwards, it has a 9 pin rectangle, solid where the 10th would be. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Quote:
I do think these boards are very finnicky.Previous boards were picky about memory too. Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe. Amd X2 4200 2GB Corsair XMS Extreme. BFG 8800GTS 320 OC2 ThermalTake "Big Typhoon". | I'm Diggin it! | Usually, I've seen front, case mounted USB wires come as a bunch of wires, not in an all-in-one connector. The back plate USB cables usually have the connector you describe. But then, I certainly haven't seen all the cases out there. | try disconnecting all of the USB/firewire/sound stuff, and if you're using onboard do that also. had a few builds where one pin off slightly, or poorly marked onboard-ports were the cause of a non-booting machine Quote:
