Game error - Shader errors?

Hello, I play a game regularly. Battlefield 2, but only with the mod Project Reality. Very sim oriented combat FPS. My new system should run it like a champ. But I am getting an error that I can not figure out. I posted this question in the mod community, but have not had an answer yet. I am running Vista 64 and have installed the game with all patches as indicated.

I keep getting an series of errors that start with:

Particles fix(229) error x3401 Unsupported Compiler Target 'LowPSModel'

Also, the path is "mods/bf2/shaders/particles.fx" then more for trail.fx, nonscreenalignedparticles.fx, decals.fx, roadcompiled.fx..with everything being the same up through "shaders/"

Any ideas? I have been searching for an hour or so and can not find good, complete info on this.

Are you getting this error while trying to install the mod, or when you launch? If you're getting it while installing, I'd redownload the mod, cause it sounds like something is corrupt, but if you're getting that while playing, I'd reinstall the game/mod.

Also, try launching the game as an administrator. I've seen that fix odd problems like this before.

Hi Buran, thanks. I do run as admin and it happens when I launch the game...goes to black screen...then I start getting the series of errors.

Sounds like it either doesn't agree with vista then (maybe try running in xp compatibility mode?), or it didn't install right.

I hate to bring it up, but I'm bitter as hell with EA (as many here on HL are, I'm sure). I say blame them and their crap-tacular product support for your woes.

try removing the mod, reinstall the game and see if the game itself will run with the latest patches... if so, try to reinstall the mod and see if the error continues... if so then the problem is with the mod and theres not much you can do other than contact the mod creator or support areas to see if there is any support for it.... but most likely not

Just to finish this thread out...and thank you to everyone also...I uninstalled everything game wise. Then went and downloaded Vista sp1. With that, a fresh install with all patches in order as the game and mod asked, it came up. This game is notorious for being buggy, but all in all, a great game in multiplayer.

Project Reality Mod is a go.
