| i bought two of these today NCIX.com - Buy Coolermaster TLF-S82-EB 80MM LED Case Fan 4 LED Blue 1800RPM 22CFM 22DBA - TLF-S82-EB In Canada. and they make the most ANNOYING "humm" sound i dont get it. theyre 22dBA, and i have a Vantec Stealth @ 28dBA which is much more quiet and enjoyable. whether or not i use the 3-pin-to-4-pin molex adapter, i get the sound. and they're both making it so i HIGHLY doubt there is a defect in the midst. PLEASE someone help me if they know what could be causing it! i have metal grills in front... EDIT: alright figured it out. turns out since im using them both as intake, the wind coming in from outside is causing that humming sound. when i flipped the fan as an exhaust, no hum at all nice and quiet. now here's the question. i have one 92m Cooler Master blue LED fan as exhaust (no sound its all nice), and i have 2 fans in my PSU (both exhaust) one bringing air in from the case, through the PSU, and another one taking it out the back. if i were to have just my 120mm in front as an intake, and have the back 92mm as an exhaust, and these 2 cooler masters as exhausts as well, also the PSU along with those, would the circulation be alright still? on the side of the case it seems like the intakes make noise, so i have to have side exhausts! If you can't stand it, i'd suggest buying a fan controller. I bought the sunbeam one that Tyreal reviewed a while back. | thing is its not a steady sound. the level of noice fluctuates (making it worse) but always hums... im taking off the grills now to see if it helps! absolutely no difference when i took a grill off. i mean NOTHING. |

| Well, you could do one of three things to identify what exactly is causing the noise: 1) Vibration of the grills or the fan mounted against the case. Remove the fan and the grills and see if the noise persists. 2) Unplug the fan, stick a pen into the fan so that it prevents the blades from spinning. Plug the fan back in. This will (should) help verify if the sound is coming from the motor, or the blades themselves. 3) Look closely at the fan blades and ensure that there is not any extra molded plastic attached to them that shouldn't be there. This can cause odd noises that fluctuate with the speed of the fan motor. Good luck! Last edited by garetjax; February 16th, 2007 at 19:13. |

| ever since i got ZALMAN Super Thermal Grease my CPU temps are solid well below 40, usually below 35, and no more than 52 load at stock i can finally overclock this baby to where it was (2905 like in my sig) this is with a ZALMAN CNPS7700-AlCu too! 9700 is coming soon!!!!!!!!! this is why im asking about circulation. im sure the exhaust on the side is good for the video card heat, and the exhaust in the back is good for the cpu, and the PSU exhausts are real good cause heat rises, also the intake in the front provides a really nice 58cfm push! |

Generally speaking, the front of the case is intake, the rear of the case is exhaust, and the sides and top are exhaust as well. You really do not need more intake because your GPU and your CPU are already cooled by their own individual cooling devices. Invoking your side fans as intakes could screw up the efficiency of your CPU and GPU fans as they are trying to exhaust hot air out, while you have your side intakes sucking cold air in, possibly forcing the hot air from the GPU and CPU back onto the exact components they are trying to cool. I would setup your case as I have described in the first paragraph, and allow your new CNPS to do its job, and let the cooler on your GPU do its job as well. Let the side exhausts take the hot air from your GPU and CPU away, and allow the rear and top fans (if you have one) take the top layer of hotter air (hot air rises) and exhaust that out the rear and top. | Colonel Calamity | On my case, I can't even have a fan on the side due to the noise, doesn't matter if it is intake or exhaust or what brand of fan. They all are noisy due to the vibration... ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

| wow really? the cooler masters on the side of my case are runnning so nice and quiet now -- they really are respecting their 22dBA specification. also, Vantecs do an amazing job at moving air quietly! 58CFM @ 28dBA thats NUTS! i think the 92mm in the back is 50CFM @ 26dBA...either way all the VANTEC Stealth models seem to do an amazing job. im going to, soon when i get case modding underway, add a green LED 92mm in the back, and get a green LED 120mm for the front too -- then with my new CNPS9700 (soon enough) it will be blue with my 2 cooler master fans! i wanna get a windowed case, or try modding mine to be windowed (never gone that far). im definitely adding, though, a 120mm exhaust fan on top (in between 5.25" bays and PSU there is really perfect space for one) and probably will make it green LED. P.S. my Core 2 Duo is @ 3001MHz right now (429x7) @ 1.375v (in the bios, after the voltage drop i cant recall what BIOS said) and its been stable for almost 1/2 hour:P im running Prime95 tests all night when i go to bed, wanna see the results! i wanna push this thing to 3.2+, and if i can do it with my CNPS7700, then i know for a fact the 9700 will go quite a bit further (chip allowing). one thing i do know is ZALMAN Super Thermal Paste beats Arctic Siliver!!! i tested them both, i get 2-3 degrees C less with the ZALMAN on 3 diff systems (all showed that same advantage).
