Talking Error message

I recently deleted 2 trojans off of my computer and continue to have problems.

I also recently had a new modem placed on my computer because my computer stated it had no local area connection.

Now my computer logs on and immediately has an error message that comes up on a blue page that reads:

Technical information:

***Stop: 0X0000007E (OXC0000005, OX804DA4F8, OXF8BAEBDC, OXF8DAE8D8)

There is also a lengthy message that states to restart the computer and questions adequate disk space.

I have tried to bring my computer up in safe mode and it still goes straight to this error screen.

Thanks so much,

That's me

get your windows disc and boot into the computer with it and when it asks, go to the recovery console.
Type in: chkdsk /f

Also be sure the check out the windows site on these errors:

that error usually indicates an iaccessable boot device.
If you are running windows XP you can run a repair install and fix this most of the time.
are you running any kind of RAID?

As Sean pointed out, go into the BIOS "DEL" at the POST screen, and switch the boot priority to CDROM as the first device, then save and reboot. After the system boots again, it will ask if you want to boot from the CD, and tell you to push any key to proceed, push the space bar, and it will look like Windows is going to install again. Let it run its course, and you will come to a screen where it will ask you if you want to install or repair, choose repair.....and a DOS like screen will appear, it will ask you what install you want to repair (usually #1), and then a DOS prompt will come up.

At this point you can do a few different things. The first should be to type in "chkdsk /p" (make sure you have the space between chckdsk and the /). The /p will force it to run check disk, as by default the system will give it a quick look and simply not run checkdisk.

If this still doesn't work, and sometimes it won't because a virus will corrupt the master boot record......the next step is to try "fixmbr" or "fixboot", which writes a new boot sector to the booting device.

If none of this works, you're probably best off just formatting the drive and reinstalling Windows.
