'ok so i put the P5K-Green onto my desktop and now i can't get it to detect my IDE DVD Drive. The bios detects the HD but not the IDE burner. So i can't even install windows or anything. any clue what could be the issue?

Jumper setting?

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

This may sound really stupid, but make sure you have the molex plugged in, as well as both ends of the IDE cable

Please don't think I am saying your stupid, but I have done this one before

Other than that, it is possible that the drive went bad.

Is your DVD drive showing up at all i.e. d: drive? If not you may have to do a registry hack to make it show up again. I had a drive disappear on me when I uninstalled a program. Other than that I would say, your drve is screwed.

check the jumper to make sure it is set to Master and not CS or Slave... some systems will use a single drive with any setting whereas some will only accept a single drive as a Master and nothing else.
worse comes to worse, it will give you a chance to spend $30 for a SATA burner

Thanks HL and Corsair!

well mainly i just swapped my board like literally last night. The DVD drive was working fine in Windows, but now wont work with the new motherboard. Its sayings it detected a Adapt CD drive, but then i just get the screen please insert bootable device. the DVD drive flashes when you put in the disk, but doesn't detect. My drive's an Asus drive and my old MB did detect the Asus drive, not saying adapt generic CD drive.

This might sound dumb, but make sure you have the IDE cable is plugged in the correct way. Red wire towards the power connector.
