I just finished putting together my build when I noticed an 8-pin EPS port and my 600W OZC (StealthXStream) PSU couldn't reach up to it with the two 2x2 12V rails. To fix this I bought two eight inch EPS extenders. But the problem was that the two rails had a extra plastic part on the side which made them not be able to fit into to extender correctly without one being angled slightly. So, I thought I'd give it a try and plug the connector into my motherboard (its a gigabyte ep45 ds3r) and it didnt turn on. I checked all the cables to make sure nothing was unplugged or anything and tryed agian and nothing. I unplugged the EPS and tryed turning it on. It started so I tryed popping in my OS cd but I got nothing on my monitor. I checked the video card and the monitor out on another computer and both work fine. So, it has to be the rail right? That or the PSU. I thought about maybe filing down the plastic on the 2x2 rail to make them fit. Any ideas are greatly apprieciated. ![]()

It would probably be best to just get an actual 8-pin extender: Newegg.com - StarTech 8" EPS 8 Pin Power Extension Cable Model EPS8EXT - Cables ![]()

Oh man, that's ghetto. Those connectors aren't in there right for one thing, notice how black (ground) are connecting to yellow (hot). You'll be lucky if your board isn't fried. You could try reorienting so they matched, but even that is still ghetto. Does that PSU not have an 8-pin connector? You can use just one 4 pin connector, and leave the other one blank, it'll work, but really, if your PSU doesn't have an 8-pin connector, it's time for a new PSU. ![]()

Well try reorienting the two 4-pins first (so the colors match), and see if that does it, usually they're disigned to be able to be used together. From the looks of it, the sides that say CPU 1 and CPU 2 should be flat against each other. ![]()

| T-Rex | That's because they're not connected in the right orientation. The words CPU 1 and CPU 2 should face each other and the black plastic tabs should end up in the highlighted red portion in the image I edited. ![]() |
