Default Computer speed

What makes a 3 ghz 1000 fsb computer faster than a 3 ghz 533 fsb computer and what is the real difference? I mean a 3ghz 1000 fsb computer is how much faster in actual real world time doing a task not benchmarking time. Then what about the HDD's sata vs ide how much real time is saved? Also how much difference does the ram make say DDR vs DDR2 in actual speed?

FSB can be from a little impact to a large impact in performence, depending on the number of cores the CPU has and how much bandwith the CPU needs to the rest of the system run effieciently and fast.

SATA2=300MB/s
IDE ATA133=133MB/s

Atlhough most drives (raptors aside) stop out at about 80-90MB/s

DDR ram tops out at around 300(600)Mhz, while DDR2 is frequently seen doing 500(1GHz)+ speeds

Thanks Lead Head but how much actual time difference is there say if I was converting a movie from one format to another or running photoshop. I mean would it save me 15 min or a hour?

Its really mostly drive dependant, CPU architecture, etc...

I will say this though, you need not to worry about the FSB on your computer though, the AMD Hyper Transport link provides roughly 2x the bandwith of intels 1066MHz bus

Its like the difference between a 2 lane state road and a 6 lane interstate.

As to the actual difference, there are a lot of factors that play into it. the difference between 533 and 800 was pretty big, the difference between 800 and 1066, not so much....mainly because the technology is just now catching up

Thanks guy's. I just wanted a idea other than benchmarks that mean nothing to me.
