Default Computer sound issues

I just formated my old computer, in preparation of getting a new pc, i was going to let my family keep this one.

Anyways, for the past few hours i have been working out little quirks, installing drivers and such. I cant get any sound out of the system.

Under sounds & audio divices, it says "no playback devices"

I have been trying to go through my motherboards website, upgrade bios and drivers, but it is unclear how to update them, and i feel lost.

The motherboard i have is an ASUS A8n-Sli Deluxe.

When i go to Device Manager> Sounds Video and Game controls > Their used to be another option here, where it was like Nvidar or something like that, it had to do with nvidia i think.

Is anyone familiar with this issue? And is should i be posting this here? lol

Thanks for any help, i have been looking through random forums, and googling it for hours.

Edit: any way to delete this post and re-post it in the troubleshooting forum?

Alternatively, you can download and install the latest driver for your audio chipset directly from Realtek, the manufacturer right here.

Edit: Oops, Capper's fast for an old man. :P

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

I think i will be good if this gets my sound up and running. The real pain will come in a day or two when i get my first self built rig sent to my house, but it should be fun!

On a miscellaneous note, i have noticed after i formated that my actual computer makes more beeping noises then it used to, is their any way to shut the computer up?

Its almost as if its trying to make up for no sound by playing a random beep anytime it doesn't like something.

Once the sound is installed those should go.

You might want to check in the device manager to see if there's not other devices not installed.
You can do so by right-clicking My Computer->Properties then going to Hardware tab and clicking Device Manager. If there's anything with a yellow question mark then it's not installed or not installed properly.
