| http://img382.imageshack.us/img382/9015/suitele5.png there is a screenshot of Ai Suite. how is that possible? thats the exact same thing i see when i have my ZALMAN CNPS7700-AlCu and the stock Intel cooler hooked up. for both its TOO HIGH! the core voltage stock after the drop for the C2D only shows up as 1.28. i put it on auto in the bios, stock speeds, and thats what showed up with a max 2*C decrease. i dont get it...this doesnt make ANY sense since one infrence i turned on the system, the fan was spinning at <1500RPM, BUT THE DAMN THING WAS AAT 35*C! ITS SPINNING FASTER BUT ITS HOTTER! i'm so confused i don't know what's going on. i've applied and reapplied thermal paste twice for each heatsink, and they were both always completely, firmly, and properly fastened. it was at 2905MHz @ around 35*C too -- one step voltage higher!!! once previously i would see constant low temps on the ZALMAN, then after a restart BANG i saw these 40s at IDLE. now it doesnt cary like before. it fluctuates with values between 45 and 52 and thats IDLE. on stock voltage and speeds its, like i said, max 2*C lower if that. help? |

| i use core temps. Go download it, and tell us what it says. Try a few different temp indicators. Although, if 46 degree is true, thats pretty damned high. However, the 7700alcu isn't the best cooler around either. | http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/6...eenfullhh0.png all 3 together (Ai Suite, TAT, and Core Temp 0.92) WOW this made it more confusing! BTW, whatever Ai Suite says, BIOS seems to say (kind of obvious i guess since theyre both ASUS, just thought i'd mention it). by the way as u can see the voltage is way lower now on the Suite, but it varies from 1.2800 to 1.3120 like in the first screen in its readings. | save your bios settings somewhere, weather you can save it int eh bios, or just write down your settings. Then put your cpu back to stock and get the temperature readings again, with all three programs. What thermal paste are you useing? This sounds like you put too much thermal paste, and now it became an insulator instead of a conductor. If its AS5 remember, half a grain of rice and no spread. If its any other thermal paste, a VERY thin layer, and nothing more. | ill get on that right now and give readings there is a really thin layer of the ZALMAN cooling. i made sure it was all good and done right -- its not the paste! |

| http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/5...lscreenqv7.png wow there is quite the difference - all the default settings on the mobo give those readings. the voltage is from 1.760 to 1.2000 now in Ai Suite from what i've seen. for some unexplainable reason it still seems to be too high...not sure if im right though? |

| these are idle temps correct? Have you always had this problem? When did you get this cpu, and when was the first time you checked the temperature? 42-43 degrees idle is still too high for a conroe at stock. EDIT: I did a bit of snooping around, and it seems like most conroes at 3.2-3.6ghz have a 41-43 idle and a 51-54 load temperature. | ive had the C2D for about 3 weeks now give or take, and the problem started a few days after. for the first 4-5 days it was all really good. lower than 35 IDLE @ 2.8, then bang this problem hit -- it seemed sudden, so maybe something broke or fried like a sensor or something or other. |
