Default Build help, i cant find the fire wire connector.

Im putting together my new build but on the MoBo -
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX All Solid Capacitor Intel Motherboard - Retail

I cant find the firewire ieee 1394 connector, or the AC97 connector.

Also, my old HDD is not SATA, and my new one is. Can i have one SATA drive and one the old style?

From a quick look it seems like the AC97 audio connector is right behind the audio connectors.

The audio plug is the green looking one near the I/O panel that is labeled F_Audio... not sure if it's ac97 or hd audio as far as the actual pin out goes, you'd have to double check the manual.

And I don't think that model has firewire on it... it's not listed on the specs for that motherboard, at least on newegg. Your manual should have a pretty detailed picture of the motherboard through, showing where stuff is, that would show you the location of everything really well.

EDIT: I took way too long writing that out, lol.

Yup. Assuming the old one is IDE.

thank you guys for the quick reply

I tried to boot it up for the first time, and i am getting no video at all.

The graphics card's fan is running. So its getting power. But no output.
I am not sure what the ports are called on the 9600GT but i am using the adapter that came with it to convert it back to the older style monitor connection. Could that be the problem?

My monitor supports the newer style of cord, but i dont have one.

Heres the card,
Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P3-N862-AR Superclocked GeForce 9600GT Superclocked 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

I hope its not a DOA card.

The ports are called DVI. Normally it should work, and if you can find the cable (normally comes with the monitor) you can use that, though the difference between DVI and today VGA connection (the older one) is similar in quality, if not the same.

Double check that you've connected everything properly. While it may seem like it's the video card because you are not getting video output, it can be a ton of things. One of the things I often forget is the 12V connector, the 4pin that starts from the power supply to the motherboard to give additional power to the processor and PCI-express slot(s). Verify that the ram is slotted correctly too, as well as the video card.

Also, are you hearing a post beep at all? That might be a quick way to check if your cpu power is plugged in and whatnot.

posting from my new build now :D

It was the 12v power i missed. My PSU had a 8 socket connector that broke into 2 4 prong connectors. Thats how i missed it. But everythings up and going, just updating drivers now.

Ill post a pic of my new machine in a few.

Thank you guys again, i almost died when it didnt work, and it was something so simple i missed :D
