| I've recently bought my new mobo MSI P965 Neo-F which is running with no errors so far .. but there is strange prob .. whenever i try to install windows XP SP2 from a BootCD .. i adjust my 1st boot device as a CD-ROM , save and exit .. but nothing happens..the windows just starts normally without booting from CD .. i've tried a couple of CD's as well , but nothing .. it's the same.. Cables are just perfect , they're brand new .. any help is much appreciated !! ![]() ![]() Mobo:MSI P965 Neo-F Chipset:Intel™ P965 Express Chipset Processor:Intel™Core2Duo E4300 (800) RAM:1 GB Kingston ( 667 ) Video Card:MSI NX nVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE (512 MB) DvD RW:Asus DRW - 1608P35 SCSI CDROM Device H.D:WDC 160 GB Case:Jumbo - 500W Last edited by T3h_Enforcer; September 7th, 2007 at 10:32. |

| I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | When your system boots, are you at any time being prompted to hit a key to boot from the CD drive? If if there's no prompt, try repeatedly tapping the spacebar or enter key as your system goes through POST. |

| It sounds stupid, and I in no way mean to insult your intelligence/knowledge, but there's a few things I think will help if you can tell us you've confirmed: 1. Make sure the optical device is detected in the BIOS. 2. These CD's you're trying are bootable. Have you used them/tried them in other computers before? Also, when you select CDRom as the first boot device, is it the kind of setting that just asks you to set "CDROM" or do you have a list of possible specific devices to select from? Do you have another optical device? Perhaps the wrong one is selected if you have a lot of options. ![]() Join us on the unofficial HL IRC Channel! | I'm Diggin it! | First off, welcome to HardwareLogic! You won't find a friendlier bunch of geeks anywhere else! IIRC, MSI likes to use F11 as the choose boot device menu key when the computer is going through the initial booting screens. As soon as the memory and processor are listed, start hitting that key/looking for a sentence that tells you what key to hit to get the boot menu. Also, as previously suggested, check your BIOS and make sure your optical drive(s) are being properly detected. I assume this is an original WindowsXP operating system install disk with SP2 already included. P.S. Try to head over to our Introductions area and give us a little info about yourself. We also like to see a signature added with all of your system specs. It doesn't have to be fancy like the one I have, but the info can and does prove useful in our helping folks. Just go to the "Quick Links" button up top, click on it, then click on "Edit Signature." | Functional Alcoholic | Glad to hear Quakindude, helped you solve your problem. Just a quick hint about your sig before the Graphics Nazi (Cough Blake Cough) harps on you about it. It's a tad too big, try putting your system specs in the actual graphic. This will help save space and bring you with in tolerance.
