Default BIOS problem

Back in Feb. i built a new pc for my step-son . He is now stationed in Korea till Jan of next year . Couple weeks ago he turned his computer on and got this msg " scanning BIOS image on hard drive " and then it just sits there . I had him unplug the computer , clear the cmos and take out the battery and he left it like that for 24 hours and still didnt help . A friend told him to replace the cmos battery so he did and that didnt work . The computer was not over clocked at all . Any idea of a way to fix it other then getting a new MB ? Here are the specs of his computer.

That might work....its worth a shot......but what might be faster is simply RMAing the motherboard.

I thought about that but his wife tossed out the motherboard box even though i told her to save it incase it had to go back to newegg . Wonder if they will take it back anyways or should he send it back to gigabyte ?

Newegg won't, but I'd be surprised if Gigabyte wouldn't work with you on this if you explain the circumstances.

Gigabyte does not need the original box for RMA work... as long as it is secure (not bouncing around) and preferably in a anti-static bag, there should be no problems.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

if he has the driver cd that came with the motherboard, he could try putting that in the dvd rom drive and restart the computer. gigabyte puts a copy of the bios on that for just such reason. instead of trying to get it off the hard drive, it will pull it off of the disk. now it may or may not work, but its worth a shot
