what is the file error it gave you... like nvraid.sys or kmixer.sys or something like that.. that file is usually the clue that will help... usually

Thanks HL and Corsair!

the next time you get it, just look towards the bottom left and it should have the xxxx.sys caused page fault in 0x00002c or whatever it says... this .sys file is the key to it all.
If you never see it again then no big deal. I get an occasional blue screen at random but that is maybe every 6-12 months

That's twice today for me and I've never heard of that error until today. All I can remember is something about the memory, could it be something to do with my RAM??

Ok here's the only numbers I got from the error.

***STOP:0X000000C2 (0X00000007,0X00000CD4,0X02130003,0X88052680)

I have no clue what that means!!!

I believe that's an error code for a bad driver. Is there anything you recall you installed lately?

Also, there is a handy feature called System restore that will most likely fix the problem if it just started happening and it is a driver problem.

Let's try and snag more info on things. Right click My Computer and choose Manage. In the left pane expand System Tools and Event Viewer. Click on and hilight Application and System (one by one) and look for RED X errors. Double Click the errors to learn more about them. You are looking for errors that relate to the problem.

That may help also.

I got a few red X all related to System Mechanic that I've uninstalled a few weeks ago. Here's the error

The iolo System Service service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at Events and Errors Message Center: Basic Search.

I know when I bootup I can see System Mechanic to do something but as far as I know it should be all gone.

I have one more problem now whenever my screensaver pops up the screen goes to black and I have to reboot my comp. Also something is spinning like crazy inside the laptop, it's louder then usual. Would a system restore delete all my programs?

one option is to install CCleaner (remove the check for the Yahoo Toolbar during the install process), run the first (Analyze then Run Cleaner), then go to the Registry option to the right and fix all errors there, do this 3 or 4 times until it doesn't find anything. Usually this clears out old registry settings asking to start this program that is non-existent.
