Default asus striker extreme and zalman cnps9700led

i recieved my zalman cpu cooler recently and was waiting for my new case to arrive before i install it. i seem to have run into an issue tho..

the clip that holds the zalman down seems to hit the striker extremes chipset heatsink.

does anyone know what i may have done wrong or has had the same problem maybe help me out?

I think a picture would be very helpful. I know you can install the CNPS9500 at different 90º angles, could you try rotating the retention bracket and putting the clip through the heatpipes instead of through the open space (or vise-versa)?

lol. we'll see. if i can't get this one working i know i can benefit from the gemini cuz of the passive cooling on the motherboard. but as of right now i dumped the money on the 9700 and i want it to work!

i didn't have any problems with the cooler hitting the mobo heatsinks. maybe take a pic and show us what the problem is?

your average Alcohol 70% Pads will do the trick.
and Striker Mobo, maybe if it drop it price tag, that is to expensive piece of frying pan if you accidentally short it
there are lot of Mobo with considerably high quality at affordable price.
but I guess u already have it. Good Luck.

YOU ARE A DAMN FANBOY OK?!!! But a damn well product to be a fanboy of that's for sure. That's the cooler I'm recommending to everyone now. Before it would've been between the Big Typhoon VX and the CNPS9500.

As I was going to say but was already aforementioned, "try using the shorter clip which is the right one for Intel" - seems like you figured that out.

Happy cooling.
