| Installed a GEForce6100-M9 in a VPremier Computer after ripping out the old MOBO. All new MOBO and a new CPU, AMD Sempron 3000+ 1.80GHz SK.939 and a new PC3200 DDR 512Mbs DRAM. Using old HDD and a PSU that was put in about a month ago also new. Will not boot up only getting a long beep then waits two seconds then long beep, which just keeps repeating. Thinking RAM is defective as the manual says one long beep then 2 second pause is showing either no DRAM detected or installed, hope not as I have waited for USPS to deliver it which was mailed from eastern Ohio on the 7th of March and just received today the 16th. Could have walked from NE TN to Ohio to pick it up faster then USPS got it here. Thanks for any help. ![]() HP/Compaq dx2200, 3.06Ghz Pentium4, 2-160 GB HDD,1.5 GHz DDR2, NEC_DVD_RW,HL-DT-ST RW/DVD, Cyborg Joystick, Acer 17" Monitor Finally Added a Linux OS Ubuntu 7.10 Now Learning it a different story. | Colonel Calamity | Try it in different slots. I have a build on that board and it will only take a single stick in certain slots and that is also dependent on if it is double-sided or single-sided. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! Can't get to the other two slot because of the way the HDD platform is built into thhis machine, hard enough getting to the first two the way the wires are going from PSU to MOBO and under the HDD cage. ![]() HP/Compaq dx2200, 3.06Ghz Pentium4, 2-160 GB HDD,1.5 GHz DDR2, NEC_DVD_RW,HL-DT-ST RW/DVD, Cyborg Joystick, Acer 17" Monitor Finally Added a Linux OS Ubuntu 7.10 Now Learning it a different story. But know somebody whose computer takes this same RAM so in morning will go there and pull hers out and try in that machine. Will know then if it is bad or not. | Am going to pull the HDD case out this morning and try the RAM in the other two slots and see if that will let it boot-up. Looks like enough room under the case to fit the RAM but with it in where it belongs can't get the RAM under the HDD enclosure. Maybe worth all the trouble will see later.![]() HP/Compaq dx2200, 3.06Ghz Pentium4, 2-160 GB HDD,1.5 GHz DDR2, NEC_DVD_RW,HL-DT-ST RW/DVD, Cyborg Joystick, Acer 17" Monitor Finally Added a Linux OS Ubuntu 7.10 Now Learning it a different story. | Hurray success, after removing the HDD cage twice finally got the machine to boot up. Only problem then was took at least two minutes for the boot screen to jump over to the "BIOS" pages, almost same time to switch pages. So after installing OS tried to boot into Windows and nothing but boot screen again for what seemed an hour but no Windows to be found. Figured out HDD was bad and swapped to another unit I had laying around, guess thats all this MOBO wanted as it is now up and running for now. Am ordering another WD HDD for it and will swap them out when I receive it. Thanks for the help about swapping to different slots for RAM. | Colonel Calamity | I betcha the old hard drive had the jumper (if PATA) set to "Master - with Slave" which would cause it to take several minutes to boot like that. Removing that jumper and setting it to Master or CS would fix that... if it is SATA then there may be problems with the SATA controller itself on the board or bad hd. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair!
