Default Am I supposed to have 12 instances of svchost?

I have 12 instances of svchost running. I also have double-instances of several system processes.

I'm gonna reboot and see if that solves it, but if it doesn't, I'll come back.

Yes, it is perfectly normal. See svchost.exe as a container for several Windows services.
The end. :P

Read this:
Code:
http://ask-leo.com/what_is_svchost_and_why_is_there_more_than_one_copy_running.html
This article explains, in depth, why more than one svchost.exe is running on your computer. When I was much younger, I too saw that my computer ran more than one svchost. At first, I thought they were all viruses disguising themselves as svchost.exe, a system file, so that they could not be deleted. Of course, after some research, I was terribly mistaken and unfortunately, I had already formatted my hard drive. Don't make the same mistake I did, hahahha. Peace bro.

12 seems a bit excessive, I only have 6 running. Is someone else logged in?

Yes, that was my point. I thought 6 wouldn't have been as bad. Like I said, there were double instances of several system processes, not just svchost. I never checked to see if restarting solved it.

And a virus... retadpu2000405.exe. Lovely.
