| As time goes by I will add more: Reduce Boot time: I was able to significantly reduce boot time with this tweak. Start > in the search box type "msconfig" > Boot > Advance Options > Tick the "Number of Processors" box > In the pull down menu select: 1 for single core, 2 for dual, 4 for quad, etc. ![]() I Like Watercooling. | I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | To rule out any placebo effect, I benchmarked my bootup time on my personal system running Vista Ultimate x64 on quad-core processor with this tweak. I measured boot time from the moment POST started (displaying VGA BIOS info) to when my mouse icon stopped working and returned to an arrow: Boot without tweak: 42 seconds Boot with tweak: 42 seconds |

| Clearly, your mileage may vary. I measured it on a friend's computer and his booted up a tad faster. ![]() I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220 |

| We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | yeah, it went from "significantly faster" to a "tad faster" INTEL E8400 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 4GB DDR3-1600 // Palit HD 4870 // Antec 1200 // Seagate 750GB HDD // Zalman CNPS9700 // BFG ES 800W PSU |

| Modder-ator | I think he said the tweak on his own system produced a significantly faster boot time while the same tweak on his friend's computer was only a "tad" faster. Tyreal might want to clarify though. Thanks for the tip though Ty, I'll have to try this next year if/when I ever buy Vista. ![]() |

| Geez. The world is against me just because I decide to post something that worked for me. It was a whole 5 seconds faster on my friends machine. ![]() I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220 |

| Well, that may be because your machine is a quad core, and Vista was probably not programmed to take advantage of all four cores, until you told it specifically too. I'm betting your friend's machine wasn't a quad-core... |
