I Found The Place

I found it! Many thanks to MantaBase for getting me here. Nice to see One4You2See here also. My goal is to contribute and share information with the forum members. Thinking that is what a good forum is about. Sharing & Learning right?

My name is Ron and I am from the Cleveland, Ohio area. Actually a transplanted New Yawker. I am an electronic engineering type with a fettish for computers. I was active with ham radio for a number of years and got my first FCC license in 1963 when I was 13 so do the math.

The kids are all grown (thank god) which leaves just myself and the wife (Kathy). Kathy is not the first wife but the best! I should have had a vasectomy when I was about 13!

I enjoy computer hardware with an emphasis on PSUs for obvious reasons.

We need more people to realize how important the PSU is. I wish people will notice that if a PSU is made by someone such as AOpen, $20, 300w, and 14A 12v, its not power your E6600 and your 8800GTZ Sli rig.

But also for people to assume that you need a 2000w PSU to power your rig. I've actually seen a post with someone having a decent 350w PSU, a 9600XT and a P4 2.8GHz. The rails and quality of the PSU were more than enough to power his system, yet "it sounded a bit weak, he should upgrade the PSU." Stuff like this is just as ignorant as assuming any cheap-o PSU will work with any build.

Yea, complete ignorance of PSUs make me ill sometimes
