Signatures
Upon joining our community, everyone must create a signature with your system's specs. This helps us diagnose problems you might be having as well as make recommendations for upgrading components. Signatures are not for linking to other sites, etc.

Post Within The Correct Topics
To make the forums easier to read, and important information easier to find, take a minute and place your post under the appropriate topic. If you are completely unsure, just place it under the general discussion forum and a moderator will move it accordingly. Off topic posts will be deleted.

Check Your Grammar
We all make spelling mistakes, but one reason you are allowed to edit posts is correct mistakes with your grammar. While none of us are English professors, it does get hard on the eyes, and brain, trying to decipher not only the issues you need help with, but what you are trying to say with your posts. Take a few moments, make sure things are spelled correctly, make sure letters are capitalized, etc. The Forum Moderators will clean up posts as much as possible....but please do your part to make their jobs as easy as possible.

No Flaming
Flaming is belittling someone for having a different opinion or not knowing as much as you think you do. I strongly believe in community and helping others, and it takes as much time to help someone (which is why we are here) as it does to be a jerk. Flaming will not be tolerated on HardwareLogic.com. Everyone will be warned at least once, but repeated offenses will get you banished.

No Spamming
Spamming is posting links to off-site things like "Lonely Russian Women", "Erectile Dysfunction Drugs". Spamming also comes in the form of "Post Whoring", when you post stuff that has no relation to the topic, or post several worthless posts that ruin the context of a thread. Please also do not link excessively to other forums, we're trying to build a community here, and sending people to other sites doesn't help us attract new members or keep ones we already have..

Offensive Language or Content
Just don't do it.... This is a family friendly site, if you need help with that stuff....theres plenty of other sites on the web. Respect other people's beliefs and lifestyle....we can't all be perfect like you. Two subjects that typically start problems are politics and religion (They have nothing to do with anything on this site, so that shouldn't be a problem). There are plenty of websites dedicated to politics and religion, if you need to discuss them, Google it and post your opinion there. I do like debate, I do want us to stay active and things like news items that are interesting or important are perfectly fine.

Copy Written Material
If you want to post copy written material, get permission, or at least give credit where its due. The person who did the work or research on that material deserves some credit. If you are unsure, ask a mod or myself.

Don't Post Personal Information
No one here needs to know your address, phone number, or Credit Card Info. We accept no responsibility if you are stupid enough to send money to Nigeria. If you want to buy an item or trade something with another member, do so through PM or IM.

Posting Images
Please remember that not all users have a high-speed internet connection. Please keep all images to less than 800x600. We do have image resizing mods installed, but they don't kick in until after the image is actually loaded. For best results, keep all images around 500x500.

Please do not hotlink images to or from the site. Bandwidth gets expensive, not just for us, but for other people, and there are plenty of image hosting websites.

No Religious Or Political Topics*
There are plenty of sites dedicated to those topics around the web. The fastest way to lose friends and respect is to argue politics or religion.....threads pertaining to either topic will be deleted and offending poster signed up for every political or religious news letter we can find.

*Political and religious topics are allowed in the V.I.P. Lounge.

No Promoting Illegal or Immoral Activities
This includes, but is not limited to talking about crack codes or pirating copyrighted materials, circumventing company's warranties, among other things.

Blocking Site Advertisements
If you use Ad-Block, thats fine...but encouraging others to block ads placed on this site will result in an immediate ban. We limit the advertisements we use to things we recommend, and these help pay the bills.

I hope you enjoy our little spot on the web. I started HardwareLogic because I feel the fastest growing segment of computer users are those with little or no experience. While you could go spend $2000-3000 on a boutique system, why wouldn't you build your own for half of that? The staff here has a wide variety of experience and knowledge to share. We are more than willing to help you regardless of what your issues are (computer related). All I ask is that you treat others with the respect you'd expect, help other when you can, and if you like the site, share it with others so they can learn.
