Tested this in my network class. Works really great. The signal is narrowed alot but if you need distance for cheap, this is the way to go.
We also tried with a Pringles chips can. It's ok, I guess metal really reflects better than this thin layer of metla sheet they use for the Pringles packaging. =)

They also have a link called Juice up with a Satellite dish or something like that. If you don't have a spare dish, you could go dumpster diving. I know that the cable company I was working for had about 30 of these dishes they discarded in the woods near their headend. I guess they didn't care as long as they were out of the way! But you could easily snag one up by looking around the trash piles of any old cable company. They may even give you permission if you don't want to be sneaky about it.
