Default S_I's Work Log

ok some of you know that i have made the plunge into watercooling and have been requesting a work log. well here it is for your enjoyment :)

Todays subject

heres my watercooling gear

its main components are the swiftech storm rev2, swiftech mcp655 pump, and thermochill pa120.3

heres what came with the storm

various mounting devices for pretty much any processor out there these days

a good look at the storms exterior

and in a disassembled state

very nice job at the factory. just remember, every time someone hand laps a swiftech waterblock, a kitten dies

CCBWE, meet CCBBE...

CCBBE makes itself at home

attaching the waterblock for leak testing (more on that later)

decided to put some casters on my case (lian li G70WB)

holes for the tubing to the radiator

mounted the pump

needed a fresh coat of paint on the body of the radiator.

the loop is finally laid out

the system is filled and leak tested for 20 hours

green wire to a black wire = power

it flows!

if you follow arctic silvers directions, this is how your thermal paste will look if you remove the hsf/waterblock

finished product

a work of art

still need to straighten out some wiring but i didnt do too bad

Oh by the way... why aren't you using the EK high flow fittings that came with the storm?

..looks like it's time to strip that processor...

Nice rig man! Make that CCBBE scream!

Mine seems to wall at 2.7 though It will run all day 2.7 at 1.325v, but then even with 1.5v its not even stable at 2.7. I think its a motherboard problem, not sure though

I know what you mean. My 3800+ X2 does the same thing to me. It can last days at 2.7Ghz but at some point it will crash, no matter what. I highly doubt it's my board though, my 3700+ used to run at higher clocks than that without any crashing. :\ A real bummer, but with luck I should be getting an OK LCB9E opty 165 from the egg. Might be able to a neat 2.75Ghz

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

well temps with w/c with the proc at stock speeds are core 0 21c, core 1 15c at idle and 26c and 20c at load. it did my old opteron 165 ccbwe's 2.6ghz with stock voltages (1.35v) im sure it could go higher with the stock voltage, but i bumped the voltage to 1.45v and got it to 2.88ghz (320mhz htt) idle temps were 25c and 21c and load temps were 35c and 30c. only ran orthos (priority 8) for 30 minutes before i tried to go higher) i need to mess with the motherboards more advanced options because when i set it to 330mhz, it wont get past the windows logo screen unless i boot in safe mode. tried playing with the memory drive strength but it didnt help so im gonna try async latency or read preamble and see if it will unlock the full potential. anyone else have some ideas?

I wish I had the time and money to put into a WC setup to cool off this E6600... and my XP3000+ setup if I wasn't selling it

Thanks HL and Corsair!
