| hey, i wanna extend the mounting hole "arms" on a pair of zalman vf900 graphic card coolers so that it will fit on a 7950gx2. the ones that come with it are 75.5mm apart (diagonally), so i need to extend it by 39.5mm to fit the mounting holes (so 19.75mm on each arm). what would the easiest way of doing this be??? could i just get my dad (a boiler maker) to machine up a rectangular thing that the cooler will bolt onto, then the thing bolts onto the pcb of the card, and have a custom backing plate to protect the pcb? heres the stats of the cooler ::: Zalman ::: and the dimensions of the pcb (its a big file) ImageShack - Hosting :: frontgrey7qk.jpg any suggestions or ideas welcome, as long as there helpful :D thanks in advance g-relk EDIT: im gonna buy a swiftech double spacing kit to fit them both in, so there wont be any space issues. | I think the easiest way is to make some "extension arms" for the cooler and use the original mounting hardware. Just a thought. E8400 DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL 2GB G.Skill 800MHz ASUS 9600GT TOP Silverstone DA650W WD 250GB + Seagate 160GB |

| I have a VF900 on my 8600GT, and I don't see how the mounting hardware is weird. Just make sure you make the extenders on the same plane, if you know what I mean, with the original arms and I think your good to go. | SNAP fair enough, ill have a look into that. they may be a little hard to make tho. how much room is there between the vf900's mounting arms and the pcb of the card??? that'll give me an idea of how thick it will be. also what would be best: aluminium, brass, or steel??? |

| Just went and measured on my card, it's about 1cm give or take 1mm, according to my measurements. E8400 DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL 2GB G.Skill 800MHz ASUS 9600GT TOP Silverstone DA650W WD 250GB + Seagate 160GB |

| awesome, thanks. ill have a talk to dad the sarvo when he gets home from work (its 2:40 in the arvo here). I'm thinking that it may be easier to make 4 brackets, with one connecting to 2 of the mounting arms (so that it uses 2 per cooler), then using the rest of the standard mounting gear, or knock up something using some bolts and spring loaded nuts. if i make it out of, say, 2 or 3mm thick steel then i should have plenty of clearance too!!! thanks for the help yellowhello, much appreciated. |

| me too!! the card comes (apparently) at the end of next week (i bought it for AUD$270 including postage off some guy in another forum), so its sorta my chrissie present from me!!! except i have to pay for it... BOOOOO. EDIT: so the card arrived on christmas eve, and i measured it, and it seems that the vf900 will go onto it without any kind of modding at all (dunno what the guy that measured it originally was doing), except the swiftech double spacer kit of course. my only problem now is that i cant actually get the double spacer kit i oz, so would someone be able to buy it for me, and send it over to me here in australia, and ill pay them back (dunno how tho, Bank deposit maybe???). if anyone is willing to help, please pm me, or just post here, and ill get back to u asap. thanks in advance and merry christmas!!!
