Default not a mod, but cable management!

This seemed the most appropriate forum for this but feel free to move it.

During a fit of insomnia recently I saw a couple cable management articles and became fed up with the messy wiring in my case. After a good two hours of planning, sleeving, taping, routing, I arrived at this result. I can say that although I wish I could do more I'm pretty pleased. Due to component locations and things of that nature I don't think there's anything else I can really do.

I posted this over at maxPC originally, but I thought you guys might be able to give me a couple tips as well!

Nice. Looks you you've got your wire management down pat.

I've found a nice alternative to zipties btw. Use twine. They sell them in large rolls at homedepot for a few dollars.

I definately much prefer zip ties. If I need an alternative (something removeable) I also like to use those "twisty-ties" like that come on bags of bread and wound around new cables.

Overall drew, your setup looks very good. And like you said, there's really not a whole lot else you can do. The only thing you could try (if you wanted to do a little modding) is cutting one or maybe two small holes or squares in the motherboard tray so you can run cables behind the mobo. But many would argue that that is bordering on obsessive. Just throwing it out there in case you were really looking to take the next step ;)

BTW, the more I look at those Tt Armor cases, the more I like them. Very nice setup drew!

Very clean...I do vbasically the same...only difference is I try to fit as much as i can behind the right side panel and the drive bay cage (like the USB/Firewire/audio jack lines)

Thanks everyone for the feedback and kind words! I might actually do come cutting eventually, I just have to work up the motivation. Most of the powercables are behind the right side panel like you mentioned capper. It was a pain to get standard molex connectors between the slats, but it works.

I am in love with this case. The only two gripes I've had about it are 1) the tooless PCI system sucked, but it's removable so no problem there and 2) the plastic bezel on top impeded airflow from the top exhaust fan, so I removed that as well.

The twine is very similar to the twisty ties. it is a tjin wire covered with a plastic jacket. it can be munipulated very easily and keeps its shape. I would definately take zipties over it but since they do cost more and i have alot of twine I am sticking to it.

I cut a square in my mobo tray as well. Here are some pics:

oh nice, where'd you get the rubber(?) trim? That looks really finished, which is what would be important to me if I did mod this case.

I think you can get it at most auto stores. I bought it a long time ago from this guy: http://www.mnpctech.com/casemodstore.html

He sells alot of nice modding stuff. He calls it U-Channel:

When you say "twine" I think it has a totally different meaning for the two of is. I picture twine as a stringy kind of string or rope. Not something with a wire in it, that would be a twist-tie :P
