Default Air Duct

Here's a little project that I've done. My case supports two psu's, and being that I'm only using one, I figured that I'd put that empty bay to use. The final picture is at the end, in case one doesn't want to look at the mess between.

I took the grill of the empty bay, and I tied a fan to it. String was easiest for me.

Here's the empty bay with the fan installed, showing also the hole that the power cables go through.

Used a three inch duct. Fan was 92mm, and being larger than three inches, I used a piece to open it up to four inches. Taped it up.

Cut the duct to length, and I cut notches in the four inch crossover piece so it would fit around the fan.

The notches created tabs. I bent the tabs around the corners of the fan to hold it in place, instead of trying to bolt/tie the duct down.

Put the duct through the hole that the power cables go through.

And here it is.

(Edit: Everything that was used can be found at Lowe's ^^. Also, if anyone attempts this, be very careful of jagged edges. I taped the ones that caused a threat up.)

Is that a Lian Li PC-A10 case? I'm toying with the idea of getting that case and was thinking about doing a very similar mod like this. Nicely done on the duct. does that fan rattle/vibrate at all just being held on by string?

Nope. Quiet as the rest of the case. And thanks, I had a lot of fun doing it. It's a silverstone case. I plan to do a review of this case.

Excellent, and pro looking to boot! I've tinkering with the idea to mod a fan duct to the empty drive bays on my Centurion.

What fan is that? Or is it just any fan?

OOHH, I assume a Silverstone TJ-07 then? Definitely another very nice case, how do you like it?

I absolutely love the case. I was skeptical of it at first, being it was so expensive, and I had only seen what was available online. I kind of felt bad because my friends have $30-$50 cases, but when I first pulled the case out of that giant box, I knew I had made the right choice.

Here's the fan. The noise for this fan is higher than the rest of the individual fans in my case. If I cover the vent, the noise level goes down. It moves more air though.
