| Hey all, Need some advice on which notebook I should buy. I will be using it for F@H, working on my writing projects (coding and writing novels), and listening to music. If I get a DVD drive with it, I could also watch movies and play games on it. I don't know whether I should save up for a Dell XPS 1330 ($1,299.99), a Asus Eee 4GB($399.99), or the Eee 20GB(~$600) (which I'd have to wait 6 months for). The XPS comes with Vista, and has a DVD drive, plus better graphics, bigger HD, and better CPU, but is it worth it in the end when I wouldn't put such features that often to the use (except for the CPU in F@H)? The Eee's come with Linux pre-installed, and no DVD drive, and I don't know if you can connect a USB DVD drive to a Linux machine and be able to use it... ![]() If someone could help me out with some advice, I'd appreciate it a lot. Thanks in advance, Nathan ![]() | ||||||||||||||

| Don't forget to check out the Vostro line of notebooks from dell. They're designed for small business, but are better constructed than consumer notebooks. They're light, solid, come with very little crap-ware preinstalled, have better support, and look sweet. I've gotten them for a couple people and they are fantastic machines. If you can't order them through the small business dept, you can get them on ebay with a transferable warranty. | A friend of mine was looking for a good gaming laptop as well, what he did was buy three laptops to test and see which one he liked most, he bought a Dell XPS high end something, an ASUS and that Gateway. He said once he testing out the Gateway, he just took the others back as they were no match. He loves it! He plays Crysis, HL2, BioShock, and plenty of other incredibly graphic hungry games on it without any problems. ![]() QX6700 ES @2.94Ghz (stock cooler, atm) ASUS Striker Extreme 680i 2GB Corsair Dominator 800Mhz Cas4 EVGA 8800GT 512MB @ 700/1717/1003 Corsair 650W Single 12v PSU Seagate 500GB 7200.11 32MB HD Samsung DVD Burner 22" SyncMaster 2220WM LCD | ||||||||||||||
