| Leaving for the SF Bay, Muir Woods and Stinson Beach tomorrow. Equiped with my Canon 20D, a EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, EF 50mm f/1.8, and a EF 24mm f/2.8. My question to anyone who has been to or lives in the area is what are some good views for photos and what are some good places to go in SF? I hear the Golden Gate at night is pretty nice... Anyway, I'll have some photos for you guys on Thursday! ![]() E8400 DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL 4GB G.Skill 800MHz Sapphire Radeon HD3870 512MB Silverstone DA650W WD 250GB + Seagate 320GB |

| Like Rich, I too grew up in the Bay Area and know the area pretty well. Fort Point is a really good place to get some fantastic shots of the Golden Gate bridge from, and if you get the chance, take the Blue and Gold ferry service to Alcatraz for some spectacular Bay Bridge and Golden Gate bridge shots (not to mention the Alcatraz facility itself). I reccomend taking the ferry from Alameda and traveling to the SF side where the ferry ends up near Pier 39. The nice thing about using the Alameda ferry point is that there's hardly any traffic. Anyway, you should be able get to some good shots of Jack London Square going from Alameda to SF. And if chocolate is your thing, you may also want to check out Ghiradelli Square. As a side note, if you ever get the chance to hit up Monterey Bay Aquarium, DO IT. Probably the most spectacular indoor and outdoor aquarium you'll ever see. Plus, you'll be within easy walking distance of Cannery Row if you are into the literature side of things, a la John Steinbeck. Last edited by garetjax; July 20th, 2008 at 21:45. |
