Default Going to SF Bay, Muir Woods, Stinson Beach

Leaving for the SF Bay, Muir Woods and Stinson Beach tomorrow. Equiped with my Canon 20D, a EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, EF 50mm f/1.8, and a EF 24mm f/2.8. My question to anyone who has been to or lives in the area is what are some good views for photos and what are some good places to go in SF? I hear the Golden Gate at night is pretty nice...

Anyway, I'll have some photos for you guys on Thursday!

I grew up right the other side of Mt Tamalpais (Mill Valley and San Rafael). Used to spend all summer at Stinson Beach and the old military bunkers out at Fort Cronkhite. There is an old missile base out there in the Marin Headlands you should check out......I'd also recommend Point Reyes National Seashore, which is simply awesome.

Like Rich, I too grew up in the Bay Area and know the area pretty well. Fort Point is a really good place to get some fantastic shots of the Golden Gate bridge from, and if you get the chance, take the Blue and Gold ferry service to Alcatraz for some spectacular Bay Bridge and Golden Gate bridge shots (not to mention the Alcatraz facility itself).

I reccomend taking the ferry from Alameda and traveling to the SF side where the ferry ends up near Pier 39. The nice thing about using the Alameda ferry point is that there's hardly any traffic. Anyway, you should be able get to some good shots of Jack London Square going from Alameda to SF. And if chocolate is your thing, you may also want to check out Ghiradelli Square.

As a side note, if you ever get the chance to hit up Monterey Bay Aquarium, DO IT. Probably the most spectacular indoor and outdoor aquarium you'll ever see. Plus, you'll be within easy walking distance of Cannery Row if you are into the literature side of things, a la John Steinbeck.

ghirardelli chocolate factory, the cable cars, ripleys believe it or not, the wharf and lombard street are some pretty cool things to see too.
