| root canals suck | I bought a Compaq in 2005 new from Radio Shack.$1400+ with 3 year extended warranty. The flat panal FP 7317 mon. went black after a week of use.No sound,or picture.I went thru the book, found nothing obviously wrong, connections wise etc. So I hooked up an older '300lb' Dell I keep around for chits n giggles to the PC,and it worked just fine.I made the never ending phone call of doom to Compaq support. They connected me to a guy somewhere in Pakistan who spoke very little comprehendable english.I told him everything I had done to correct the problem had failed, and that I need to return the monitor for exchange of a new item.Well that was not going to happen,as they dont replace new with new,you get a used refurbished unit for your 1 week old new item.I dont need to say how displeased I was. We then went into a half hour support regimond that would check to see if the FP7317 was in fact broken! Unhook this, unhook that, hold the power button in for 3 minutes with everything unplugged to get all the static out of the machine escapade etc.I told "support" that I had already done all this and we were wasting time.He insisted we do it again. After 3 or 4 different "professional support technics", HE decided to tell me that the monitor was no good, and to hold,he would get me an RMA#. It took over a week to recieve my "new refurbished" unit and I was to send the NEW broken unit back in the box that the "new refurbished unit" arrived in. Of 5 stars I give them a -5 . |
