Default 6800GS SUPERCLOCKED AGP Dead - EVGA

I am waiting on call back from EVGA, eta is something like 20 minutes. I am just wondering how I am going to make out from this issue. I bought the card sometime last year and it is now starting to have major issues. The GPU is crashing whenever I load any game. I have reinstalled drivers, updated motherboard drivers, reinstalled games, and even reinstalled windows... twice.

It has also started to crash when simply using a web browser, I didn't think it would do that to me

Question is: my current card has a 256 bit memory interface, EVGA has nothing on the market with that interface, they are all 128. Will I take a performance hit if they for example upgrade me to the 7300GT or 7600GT which are both on 128?

No. A 7600GT 256MB performs better at any given resolution than a 6800GS 256MB.

Edit: Oh and don't accept lower than a 7600GT. A 7600GT is the equivalent in terms of power. Anything lower would be a downgrade.

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

In fact, I'd push EVGA for a 7600GT upgrade if at all possible.

even a 6800GT with a 128bit interface will give you better performance than the GS... the GS is the budget level and evga just kicked it up to the 256 to squeeze a bit of performance from it.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

As far as I know 6800GT's all had a 256bit memory interface. Don't get yourself confused over the amount of memory. :P

Edit: Also, never saw a 128MB 6800GT either, for that matters.

Just threaten to become an active member on their forums if they don't exchange it for a decent videocard. You just may end up with specially modded AGP 8800GTX that way...

6800GS can be unlocked and if memory serves me correctly performs on par with whatever was the 7 series GTX card.

I have a 128mb 6800gt in my closet, if I remember right.... made by pny. Hmmm.... I'll have to take a look at it when I go upstairs to be sure though.

Pushing it a bit.
6800 could be unlocked to perform like 6800 Ultras.

theburan: Are you sure it's not a 6600GT?
Edit: Oh no, apparently it exists. I frankly never sold one, lol.
