Nice, but totally un-neccessary lighting effects...

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

Most (not all) lighting effects are, but in terms of appealing to aesthetics, that's completely subjective.

On a related note, I noticed this tidbit from the product page: "You can independently change the color of any LED and activate special light effects – or simply turn off the lights." Kind of a best of both worlds approach, at least on paper.

I personally like lights, but they aren't for everyone. With the exception of indicator lights, they are always unnecessary, and often times over done. In the product picture it looks pretty nice, and add the fact that you can turn them off that's even better.

I like that mouse, it's pretty sharp looking.

That's a pretty badass looking mouse and keyboard.
ROCCAT STUDIOS V2.0

I'd hit it (and by hit it, I mean review it) but they look VERY expensive....

All I could find on the keyboard is that its 70 GBP
VALO : Roccat Valo Gaming Keyboard with Turbocore (40Mhz), 2MB Memory and Liquid Crystal : ROC-VALO
>.> I sure hope they aren't a British based company.....

Well if we get any of these (mice or keyboards) from Roccat let me know and I'll do it :D
I'm gonna be back home and ready to review on the 20th (hint hint nudge nudge).

[edit] After reading more about that keyboard, I might be tempted to buy it in the near future. It's been delayed apparently, but if it ever hits $70 USD (and not 70 GBP) I may have to trade in my Saitek Eclipse for it :P

New mouse - Roccat Kone - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net

Aug 24, 2007 Roccat Kone
Dec 10, 2007 Roccat Kone mouse unveiled

GDN: ROCCAT Kone Goes Gold

From what I'm reading it may have gone in to production in August 08.
Articles about it being released soon date back to August 07
They originate from Finland and based in Hamburg.
Initial release targeted for UK.
We're not likely to see in US anytime soon.
Prototypes available to a select few Beta tester registered with Roccat.
Projected cost for the Kone 70 euro or 100 USD
" " " " Valo 100 euro or 142 USD

Roccat Kone - What On Earth Is That? | Gaming Weapons
First up in their range is the Roccat Kone gaming mouse. ... At 100 euros,
Believe what you want.... Excellent looking design & Fantastic Specs aside.... I don't think we'll be seeing one anytime soon.
How much better can it really be than what is available to us right now.
I'll keep my G5, G7, MX Laser M-RBA97(bluetooth)
I've tried Razer's Microsofts and OCZ 6/7 programmable button mouses.
I took them all back and kept the above for the ease of use (software) and feel. Size button placement and feel of click all superior IMHO.
Although to be fair I had to return my first G5 because when I would right or left clicked it, it felt dead. I didn't feel or hear a click and even the action was intermittent. Obviously a defective mouse but the replacement was just right.

If we ever see one it most certainly deserves a look see.
