Default This will probably sound stupid but....

I just got a new hard drive. The Western Digital Raptor 150 GB. 16 MB Cache - The one I have in my PC now is a WD i believe, 200 GB, 8MB Cache. I want to mirror that drive to my new one. 1. I have never done it before, and my instructions are not here - I'm sure I could search the net, but hey, why did I join here, right?
2. I believe that the existing hard drive is hampering my overclocking tries(which i am experimentnig with--work in progress for my first. i currently have it running at 3.0, but i would like at LEAST a 3.2 - 3.8 would be great). If I put this Raptor in, do I have to take out the other HD? Or can i just have it as a slave...is that term used anymore? lol - they are both SATA
I guess my question is - how the hell do i mirror this thing

Western Digital includes utilities to copy the data and everything on one drive to another. Depending on what you want to do, the steps are a little different.

You can transfer lock, stock and barrel from your old drive to the new drive no problems, follow the instructions to replace boot drive. Then after verifying that the new drive is bootable and that all of your data survived the trip, you can format the original drive to be a 'slave' drive for storage etc.
For SATA drives there really isn't master/slave configurations like there is for IDE drives of old. Each SATA device is on it's own channel. But the term
can still be generically used to denote additional drives.

Cool Re: This will probably sound stupid but....

Better yet. Go to Backup software for data backup and disaster recovery in Windows and Linux - Acronisand download the 15 day trial of True Image. It's fully functional trial. I used it, then bought the software.

Just follow the instructions/wizard, and you shouldn't have any trouble "ghosting" your drive.
