There is a couple of ways of doing it though, one way is through the os cd disk. It should give you the option to delete the active partition. It will warn you that you are about to delete and loose everything. Delete the main partition, and then recreate a main partition. Once that is done, it will automaticly have to format the hard drive in order to install the OS. If you do it this way, (recomended), be sure to format the drive NTFS. Not FAT32.

The other way to do a format is, once you do the boot up disks you can type in: format C:

Be sure to include the space after "format". This will also warn you that you are about to loose every thing on the current drive.

hope this helps Justin

You needn't reformat before inserting the boot discs. The Windows installation will ask you to reformat and repartition the drive.

thats what i thought. My main problem now is just to get it to boot the OS. I have a feeling that its the discs that are the problem, if anything.

Run a full format. Sometimes the quick ones screw up OS installations.

It sounds more like a bad CD drive than a bad disc. Try another drive.
