Default Thermaltake Max4 eSATA problem

Its a little problem;
When I had it on my laptop using USB, when I unmounted (ejected) the drive, it turned itself off, but now I have it on my desktop and I have it using eSATA and it won't turn itself off when I eject it.

...? Is that a USB only feature?

and is turning the switch off bad for it (~1-2 times a week)?

That is a USB feature from my experience. With eSATA, you have to "eject" it and then turn it off yourself.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

The drive never powered down when using the eSATA eject for me either. Frankly, I as really surprised to see it do that with USB.

I think this has something to do with eSATA don't go through a chipset. If we look at the USB board. There always is a controller for the USB HDD enclosure. And don't see that on the eSATA only enclosure.
So that power is turn off by USB2.0 controller.

Never proved to be a problem for me. *shrugs*
I turn off the power without even ejecting. Just be sure nothing is working on the drive. :P

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?
