Default Removing partitions on a Hard drive // Creating from inside windows

I tried ubuntu 6.06 and it didnt want to boot for some reason..... so I need some partition software on windows thats freeware.


help!

Right click My Computer->Manage. Disk Management.

BAah! I think there is something wrong with my external device (the enclosure, not the hdd) it cannot format correctly, I've ejected/reinserted several times and it just doesn't want to work. I definitely need a new one.)

Rarely happens to be the case, but have you tried changing the jumper position? Sometimes you'll need to set your jumper to cable select for it to work properly. If it's already in cable select, you might want to try master. :)

What brand is the drive son? Simply go to the drive manufacturers site to download the software

The application you need is gParted, the PartitionMagic clone. It can read, write, edit, resize, and reformat any type of drive or file system, including NTFS and ext3.

I am gonna try MaxBlast 4, it's Maxtor's installer. I have it formatting on my other PC right now. Hopefully it is fixed....

it's actually progressed so I believe it is working. I still pray to the hardware gods though....

There's something wrong with the external hardware or the config.
