Default Prospects of a new monitor

This is the monitor that I'm considering. I also have a $10 promo code discount, and the shipping is free. The price is one of the best I've found. The local Circuit City's 20" monitors couldn't even be the price of this 22".
I want to go with Viewsonic because I have an old 17" CRT that I'm still using after some odd 6 - 8 years. I have been thoroughly satisfied and happy with my Viewsonic CRT so I'd like to continue with one. I know I can find some other brands for a price difference of about 20 bucks, but imo, Viewsonic deserves the extra few dollars -- not too many though.
Just wondering if you all think this is an all around good buy. I went to the Circuit City and viewed the monitors in person. I actually fell for the widescreens, where I was previously convinced that all I wanted was a nice 19" square lcd. While I was there, I came to the conclusion that my buy was going to be either a 20" or a 22". My research has brought me here. Any objections or significant better deals?

That should be a decent monitor, but it's nothing exceptional. It doesn't have a lot of adjustments (mainly height) and the viewing angle isn't ideal. But if you are getting it for a decent price and don't mind the viewing angle properties of those types of montiors, then go for it.

Hmmm. Well that's not something I took into consideration. What would be ideal? I can do without height adjustment. I've made it this far without it.

This is a Samsung 22" in the same price range:
SAMSUNG 226BW Black
It has 1,170 reviews and 80% 5 star rating.

It's just a personal preference thing. I went and looked at a lot of 20" and 22" screens and all exhibited terrible image/color distortion when moving your horizontal line of sight from the top edge of the LCD to the bottom. It was so much that I could not handle it and was forced to pay the big bucks for a 24" screen (most of which are built using a different panel type and don't have this viewing angle problem). I suggest trying to see some similar monitors in person to make sure they suit your needs because an LCD purchase from Newegg is final unless it has 8 or more dead pixels...

i just picked up 2 samsung 21.6 inch widescreens for 230 each. futureshop boxing day sale.

i would never use anything but a widescreen monitor for my own rigs. i have 24 inch dell 2405 for my rig.. the 2 samsungs were for a second screen and one for a different pc.

That's really good advice. At the very least read every review you can, there's usually people out there who give specific experiences about every little thing. I can't stand dead pixels unless they are way in the corner. If I had 5 or 6 I would hound support so bad
