Default Portable Hard Drive Project

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144417
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817716015

These were ordered today, I blew my budget of 75.00 but I got greedy and wanted more GB's. I will do a build of this and a review, its my first one of both so I figured I would start small. I know its a simple task, just wait I will make it hard! :)

Looks like a nice enclosure. I'll be interested to see what you think of it! I haven't read anything on the SATA external enclosures yet.
Can you use the SATA data cable or USB then?

The internal interface is SATA

The external interface is USB 2.0 or SATA.

The only thing that I see is the harddrive that you got is a SATA 2 with 300gbs, and the metal gear enclosure is only a SATA 1 at 150gbs. Not really a big deal though, as most of the SATA 2's don't hit anywhere near there supposed speeds.

Oh no, not at all!!! The SATA 2 drives are backwards compatible!!!

The only thing that it will do, it limit the drive to 150gb/s transfer rate. That is still faster than the IDE UDMA 6 that transfer at 133gb/s. It should be a great external hard drive

And Metal Gear Box is great enclosures by the way. I have sold several in my store, and have not had a single one of them come back defective

I think I sold the very first one over 2 1/2 years ago, and the customer came in about a month ago to have his desk top worked on, and bought a 120gb hard drive to replace the original 20gb drive

WITCHCRAFT! I mean, I wish I had a need for an external hard disk. I don't even have a need for flash memory really, and files I even need to transfer go to the lappy and then to the next comp, via wireless

Have fun! Remember the golden rule - if your not voiding your warranty, your not trying hard enough.

I can't believe how cheap 250gb HDs are getting these days. I guess it makes sense with 1 terabyte HDs hitting the main stream market soon.

Looks like it will be a nice setup. How about more of a step by step guide with a in depth look at the features of the enclosure. I think that would be more interesting then a review.
