Default One ide drive and one sata??????

hey, i currently have an 80gb ide hard drive on its own. ive purchased a 160gb sata drive, which is on its way.

i am a keen gamer thus have lots of files etc.
im wanting to run windows on my new sata drive and have all my games on that drive. whatam i required to do. freshly install windows on that drive?????
and i want to leave the 80gb ide drive for just work and music and stuff.
is it true games will only work on the boot drive???
help???



pc specs: mobo:asus p5ne-sli,E6600,2gb corsair xms2 800mhz,80gb maxtor daimond 20 hard drive,160gb sata on the way!!! evga 7800gt gpu.(8800gt on the way!!)

there are a free trial programs like Acronis that you can use to copy all information directly from one drive to another and make your SATA drive as the boot drive. Then once this is done you can format the 80GB drive and use it for storage.

and no you can install the game to the 80GB drive after the SATA is the main boot drive and the games would run fine from there but SATA is faster than the regular PATA so it is suggested to keep the games on the SATA drive and only use the 80GB for music and files.

ive had a look at the acronis website. there are so many options. which one am in intrested in?

Complete hard disk drive copy, cloning and image backup software: computer files and disk copying

Download Trial is on the left.

it is best to download it and not actually install anything until you get the new drive, and have it installed in the system and formatted by Windows. After that, install it and clone the drive. I haven't used their latest version so I cannot offer any help on exactly how to do it.
