The more expensive one has a height adjustment for the stand which is good. I really don't see a lot of difference in most of the specs.

well the cheaper one has a 1000:1 contrast ratio, the more expensive one has a 800:1 contrast ratio, how much does that come into play?

does having a 1000:1 contrast ratio visibly differ from having a 800:1 contrast ratio?

i believe higher contrast ratio is better. but i don't think you would notice it unless they were side by side.

ok well i looked it up on wikipedia, lol, and yes higher is better, it explained it like this, contrast ratio is defined as the ratio of the luminosity of the brightest color to the luminosity of the darkest color that the system is capable of producing.

Yes, a higher contrast ratio is better. 800:1 and 1000:1 are both pretty close, I doubt you would notice a difference. I agree with Joker, get the one with height adjustments.

the height adjustment capability is enough of a necessity that its worth the extra $40? cause i havent had one before so idk what kind of angle problems arise?

Let me tell you right now that I own that ViewSonic monitor, and it's simply amazing. the Adjustability, for me, is well worth it aside from the fact that it has an 8-bit panel and higher contrast ratio - it's just a better monitor - plain and simple.

i guess you could always put a phone book or something under the monitor to raise it up.
