Default NTFS vs. FAT

Here's a nice table to summarize the characteristics and benefits of 4 different file systems. If you're like me, you often get the facts mixed up, so giving this a quick look is a nice refresher. :)

Again, if you're like me, you might be wondering, "Hmmm, so what is considered a 'large volume?'" Microsoft states that Windows running FAT32 volumes larger than 32GB suffers performance penalties. Check out the link below if you want to read more about this.

Very informative indeed. I didn't know what M$ considered a "large capacity" drive. Nice find, thanks for sharing! :D

I didnt really notice a performence diffrence swictching between NTFS and FAT on win2k, but with NTFS i had to defrag much less often
