| Here's a nice table to summarize the characteristics and benefits of 4 different file systems. If you're like me, you often get the facts mixed up, so giving this a quick look is a nice refresher. :) File system comparison table. Again, if you're like me, you might be wondering, "Hmmm, so what is considered a 'large volume?'" Microsoft states that Windows running FAT32 volumes larger than 32GB suffers performance penalties. | I didnt really notice a performence diffrence swictching between NTFS and FAT on win2k, but with NTFS i had to defrag much less often |
